Dogs naturally jump up when they are excited – this is natural! It is common for doggy even though it can be very annoying for humans. And not to mention, if your dog is a biggy, it can just plain hurt if he knocks you over. And you wanna stop your dog from jumping up on you!
As a social animal, your doggy is naturally going to get really happy when you get home or when you’re in the yard playing. It is just natural dog behavior – and don’t be surprised if she gives it her all when jumping up. However, if they are to be correctly socialized in a human family, they must be taught not to do so and if you can catch it right away, the better, but if not, it still can be discouraged and stopped totally if done correctly.
Dog Training Tipss To Stop Dog Jumping
Little do we know, we actually encourage this behavior of jumping up. Because when they are young pups we allow them to jump up because they’re so cute – so from the outset, we have set a precedent for jumping up. Then the puppy grows up into a big doggy that bowls you over every time you get home [from work].
Training them, as soon as possible, that greetings must be done on all fours is our mind-set.
As with all parts of dog training, consistency is the most important – all the people in your doggy’s world must adhere to your training regime or doggy will get confused. So tell all your family and friends not to let the doggy jump up. Thus, it is not great if mom is letting the doggy jump up and dad is saying no to the jumping because the doggy just gets way too confused.
Say No To Jumping. And Use One Of The Following Techniques.
* This simple technique will astound you in its simplicity. When doggy jumps up, fold your arms in front of you and look straight upward – the dog will lose her enthusiasm for jumping up real quick. You’re gonna love the next Dog Training Advice!
* Another way is to hold his paws when he jumps up. Don’t squeeze too hard, just hold steady. Be attentive for the moment when the doggy tries to get away. Then, release the doggy while saying ‘Off’. Your dog will not like having his paws held onto like this. So be consistent in this technique and your dog won’t want to jump up of his own volition!
And as his paws touch the ground, give him plenty of love and praise to show him it’s better to be on the ground.
Sometimes before the dog is fully trained, she’ll forget and jump up when excited. Just be consistent with the training and she’ll get it quite quickly. For a review of just a totally comprehensive guide on dog training, I strongly recommend you check out the SitStayFetch review.
